Case studies

Real yards. Real results.

A closer look at recent work: what the property needed, how we built it and what went into it.

    BeforeAfter

    Project 01

    A front porch, brought back

Steps repair · Power washing · Renovation

    The challenge
Years of weather had stripped the paint from the porch floor, steps and railings, leaving bare, worn wood at the front door.
    Our solution
We power washed every surface, prepared the wood and refinished the floor and steps in a deep green with crisp white railings and posts.

    Project 02

Fire pit patio with seat wall

    Excavation · Patio · Masonry

    The challenge
A bare backyard with nowhere to gather. The family wanted a patio that felt like a destination, not just a slab.
    Our solution
We excavated and built a compacted base, laid a paver field with a contrasting border, and wrapped it with a curved seat wall, stone pillars and a built-in round fire pit.
    Materials
Tumbled concrete paversSegmental wall block & capsFire pit kit with block surround

    Project 03

    Large-format patio off the deck

    Patio · Steps

    The challenge
The back of the house needed one continuous outdoor surface that connected the deck, the side door and the lawn.
    Our solution
A wide patio in large-format pavers, with stone-capped steps down from the deck and a walkway continuing along the house.
    Materials
    Large-format concrete paversStone step caps

    Project 04

    Front walk and garden renewal

    Walkways · Edging · Mulching

    The challenge
A handsome stone-front home whose paths and beds no longer matched the house: uneven walking surfaces and undefined beds under mature Japanese maples.
    Our solution
New paver walkways to the porch and around the side of the house, stepping stones, natural fieldstone borders and fresh black mulch to frame every tree.

    Project 05

    Estate fall clean-up

    Fall clean-up · Pruning · Mulching · Edging

    The challenge
A large wooded property with long driveways, stone walls and extensive beds, all needing to be ready for winter before the last leaves fell.
    Our solution
Leaves cleared from lawns and beds, shrubs and grasses trimmed, bed lines re-cut and fresh mulch spread, leaving the hardscape and lawn crisp for the season.
    Materials
    Black hardwood mulch

    Project 06

    Foundation planting from scratch

Landscape design · Planting · Mulching

    The challenge
A home with almost nothing planted along the foundation, so the house looked unfinished from the street.
    Our solution
New beds wrapped around the house, planted with a Japanese maple, blue spruce, upright evergreens and flowering shrubs, finished with river-rock drip edges and mulch.
